What is a resume anyway?
A resume or Curriculum Vitae is a document used to show a persons educational achievements , key skills and work experience. There are a number of standard methods of building a resume, but basically they contain the same information, just in a different order. These are referred to as functional or chronological resumes.
We have a number of professional templates, developed exclusively for our subscribers. With our resume building service you are able to use all four depending on the job you are going for and your personal preferences.
The main reason people write a resume is to get a job, but that's not the only reason. Other reasons include:
- Getting into college
- Obtaining finance for a new business
- Joining a professional association
Whatever reason you have for writing a resume, its important to keep it up to date and also to tailor it for the purpose. Don't forget that a resume will not get you a job. No resume will do that. If you are using your resume to find a new job, a resumes role is to get you to an interview. You can discover more resume tips on this site.
It is important that the resume you write is a truthful representation of your achievements. Don't be tempted to exaggerate or lie on your resume.
